Since their rise from the second division into the Bundesliga – Augsburg seem to be going from strength to strength and are settling well in their new stadium. The fact that the WWK Arena had to be made because the demand for tickets at the old place exceed the capacity should tell you something! With European football coming to Augsburg for the first time in 2016 – the club is looking up and the fans are getting right behind them!

WWK Arena is home to the football club FC Augsburg. A club with great local support due to their long tradition and down-to-earth management. Without having any big investors the rather smaller club has even managed to qualify for the UEFA Europe League recently. More than one time! This is why the fans love their team and will support them in any given situation – in good and bad times! They are not rowdy at all. Summed up, I consider the FCA crowd as enthusiastic and cheerful, 7/10.

This is Bavaria, the heart of German conservatism. The Augsburgers are no different, so don’t go expecting the great German atmosphere that is associated with the likes of Dortmund. Augsburg were dreadful until the 2000s and never troubled the second division until 2006, so many of the current fans are seen as Hans-come-latelies by other German supporters.
Attendances have jumped from 2-3000 to 30,000 in 15 years, but while there is a whiff of nouveau riche about the place, that doesn’t make it a good idea to wear away colours, so don’t. The mostly likely outcome is that the police will think that you are an away supporter and will direct you to the guest section, but they’re doing that because the potential for trouble is always there.
