So on the one hand it is a really friendly crowd. There’s banter from everyone and it doesn’t often seem to go beyond that. However, the away fans are regularly unable to buy alcohol which demonstrates that things don’t always run so smoothly. Don’t go showing off your club’s jersey around town or outside the stadium: it’s unlikely, but you can always attract trouble which is easily avoided.

Barnsley fans have long been accustomed to their club battling relegation in the championship – and the old adage of every game being a cup final is really true for these fans. As such every game here has a great atmosphere – the fans are the 12th man and the players count on their support to keep them in the Championship! Don’t be scared to roar on the team or start a chant – the crowd are often a friendly and welcoming bunch!
