Valentino’s place is a nice and cosy location where you can deal with the amazingly friendly staff, whether you want just drinks or food as well. It always has a great atmosphere to it and there are often live music sessions in the evenings. The small size of the bar adds to the feel and authenticity of the place.

Pinguin Zem Bier-Huus is the perfect stop for beer fans. They have an amazing array of fascinating beer paraphernalia, much of which will be entirely new to you. One drawback is the lack of draft beers, but this is made up for by the sheer selection of beers available, from local brews to some of the biggest names in the world of beer. The staff is very knowledgeable and are able to make recommendations based on your specific tastes.

If you are in Basel to see and experience the city as well as take in a football game, there is no better place for a drink than Bar Rouge. It is more than 100 meters in the air and whilst the atmopshere isn’t the most raucous, it’s a special place to get a drink.

Cargo Bar is a good spot to check out before and after a game, it is quite popular with the younger crowd of Basel and as such, it always has a buzzing atmosphere. If you are pining for some familiarity, then both McGuinesses Irish Bar and Nelson’s pub have that typical pub feel to them with a good selection fo beers on tap.
