Things to check out around St. Jakob Park?

The Rheinfahre is a route where ferries cross the Rhine river in four different places. It is well worth taking one of the ferry boats and relaxing as you cross the river, while watching swimmers go by on their lunch breaks. It is a lot more enjoyable than using one of the standard bridges and it is cheap to cross. You will get a glimpse at some great views and historic sites along the way.
Basel Paper Mill Museum is a great day out whether you are on your own or with the family. It is very interesting, informative and inspiring. You learn about the paper making process and you can even make some paper yourself. It is an interactive experience and is a lot more exciting than the name may suggest. Definitely one of the best museums choices in the city of Basel.

Most of Basel’s delights are to be found in the Old Town and you can spend a day or two wondering around the streets. The city walls and the walk along the river is not too be missed out and the cathedral has astonishing views from all over the city – just be prepared to climb a load of stairs.
There are also a tonne of museums to see, all for really good prices and the zoo is one of the best in Switzerland!
