Every year, the club hosts a special event on Christmas called “Weihnachtssingen” (Christmas singing). A tradition that dates back to the year 2003 when 89 fans illegally met in the stadium to sing about the flubbed first part of the season to recuperate enthusiasm and belief. With every year there were more people joining in on the event, nowadays the stadium is completely full during this event. A happening that will give you goosebumps for sure! Even fans from other clubs join in on the breathtaking event on the 23rd of December. Make sure you book your tickets early in advance.

Bare in mind that if you have a standing ticket – your best bet is to get there early. There are no reservations on the terrace and if you wander in 5 minutes before kick-off, you will find yourself at the back of the terraces. Get there early – enjoy a beer and make sure you get an incredible close up view of the pitch.

You need to learn is the phrase “Und Niemals Vergessen, Eisern Union!”. It’s the club motto – “Never Forget, Iron Union” – and you’ll here it roughly 900 times a match. It’s written on the top of one of the stands, too, just in case you forget it. For away fans, you can replace the word Eisern with a German word that sounds a lot like it and starts with a Sch it if you want to rile the locals.
