What to expect from the Estadio San Mames crowd?

As you might expect, the away fans are shuffled into a corner in the South East of the stadium, and are allocated a few thousand tickets per game. However, the home support is superb. The fans are loud and raucous and friendly – personally that’s everything I could ask for in the opposition. As an impartial supporter, you are surrounded by noise on all sides and can’t help but be sucked in to the vibrant atmosphere of any Bilbao home game!

Estadio San Mamés serves as the home of Athletic de Bilbao, which is considered one of the best football teams in Spain. Athletic supporters are really emotional and they are very proud of their team. You can feel that everywhere in the city. So I can promise you every game here will be very exciting and of course crowded. Fans are noisy of course but also peaceful.
