You should definitely check out the old town of Bratislava which is a historic neighbourhood that has many charming, narrow lanes, great restaurants and amazing palaces. There are also some of the most important buildings in the history of the city located there, such as the Leopold de Pauli Palace and the former Palace of the Hungarian Estates.

Devin Castle is found a few kilometres outside of the city and it an amazing site, with it being a former part of the Roman border back in the first century AD. For a while it was even the seat of the Great Moravian Empire, as well as being sued as a key strategic post in the middle of the Turkish Wars.

Bratislava might not be as high up on the European hit-list as its neighbors Budapest and Prague, however it is a wonderful city in its own right and an amazing place to spend a weekend. The Old Town is a delightful place to walk around and spend the day visiting coffee shops and shopping before taking off to the Castle and enjoying the views over the city. There are also a tonne of free walking tours that you can go on and find out all about the city.
