The atmosphere is good in Caen recently. After spending a year years entrenched in Ligue 2, they were promoted in 2014 and after a season finding their feet, they are competing like they have been there for years – even claiming the scalps of Bordeaux and Marseille recently. This drive and commitment has meant the fans have been enjoying coming to the game – and with the stands close to the pitch – this creates a really great atmosphere!

This stadium has two different personalities and it all depends on when you come. The stadium will be full and animated if the Stade Malherbe Can’s is playing in the first league. Crowd will be cheering and passionate. Unfortunately, if the club is in the second league, the stadium will be pretty empty and boring. Still, people are nice and friendly, especially if you speak French.
