If you plan a trip to one of Germany’s most exciting race tracks, why not make it into a camping holiday? The hosts offer a huge camp ground which is only 35€ for three nights. You can even borrow a tent at the venue which means you don’t have to carry it yourself and can just comfortably get there by motor bike, for instance. The camp ground is 2km from the race track. It’s a great way to meet other motorsports fans from all over the world. There are wild parties every night, too.

It’s hardly new information, but the other 51 weekends of a year when the Moto GP isn’t in town, the Sachsenring is still there. You can avoid the pandemonium and the crowds by going to one of the other events, with the Sachsenring Classic a particularly interesting day out: the focus is on classic motorbikes, with old East German models favoured.

If you don’t quite know where to sit – you may be tempted by the official ‘supporters’ stands – the most popular drivers have their own official fan clubs at the ground. Tickets here not only get you a grandstand seat – but also some race gear and flags so you can cheer on your favourite driver!
