Motor races are a melting pot of nationalities, cultures and backgrounds – though all with one thing in common. Everyone here loves motorsport. For much of the race, you won’t see the cars until they roar past you, and so most people are glued to the big screens that dot the circuit. It isn’t a constant atmosphere like you get at football grounds with no songs and nowhere near the expletives, but the buzz is fantastic.

Further, the support still seems to be going up, an increase of fans every year is noticeable. A unique thing here is that also the practice races attract a lot of fans and visitors. The first thing to expect from the crowd is that it will be huge! 250,000 on the Sunday, all fighting for the best seats in the house, all queuing for food and drink, all wanting to use the facilities. It can be a little overwhelming, but the numbers are all part of the atmosphere and contribute to the magnitude and importance of the event. Go with the flow and get into the spirit.
