How do I get to RheinEnergie Stadion?
1 answer
Car: Coming from the highway A1 which circles around the entire city you may want to take either one of the exits “Köln-Bocklemünd”, “Köln-Lövenich” or “Köln-Weiden/Frechen”. From all these exits just follow the signs leading you directly towards “RheinEnergieStadion”. There are about 7,500 parking lots available, but they fill up pretty quickly and waiting times after a match can be long (up to 1.5 hours).
Metro: To get to the metro station “RheinEnergieSTADION” hop onto the metro line 1. It passes several popular locations like the Central Station or Köln / Messe (exhibition). If coming from outside by train you can also aim for “Bahnhof Weiden-West” and then take line 1 towards the stadium. The ride is for free if holding a valid football ticket.

The stadium is outside of the city proper in a small suburb of Cologne – although there is ample parking, it can be a bit of a nightmare when you leave the ground and try and get back into the city.
Thus, public transport is the most convenient way of getting to and from the RheinEnergie Stadion. There is only one route to take as well – from many points around the city centre you can jump on the Number 1 Tram. This will take you the ‘Rheinenergie-Stadion’ station – from which the stadium is only a 5-minute walk away! Just follow the hordes of FC Koln fans!

Germany is known for exceptional public transport connections and Cologne is no different. The RheinEnergieStadion is easily reached from the city centre via stadtbahn trams, which go from all over. Take the East-West line to the station named for the stadium and you’re right there.
Travelling by car is simple too. The stadium is just over a kilometre from the autobahn exit, so wherever you’re coming from, you’ll find yourself able to get to the game easily. Parking is in one of the 8 allocated stadium car parks, expect to pay around €5 and to have a decent wait to get away post-match.
