Best Food and Drink at Signal Iduna Park (Westfalenstadion)?
1 answer
Fans come first at Borussia Dortmund and that is why the food and drink is so reasonable here – as well as being of a high quality. The walk up to the stadium is full of cheap food kiosks and food trucks selling everything from Pizza to Kebabs. If you’d prefer to wait until you are inside – there are lots of kiosks selling a variety of food as well. €2.50 will get you either a meaty Bratwurst or some Meat Balls, there are also kebabs, pizza slices and hamburgers on sale for similar prices.
Soft drinks and beer are also available – but you will have to put down a deposit first! Remember it’s a cashless stadium. (See insider Tips)

Since we are in Germany there is only thing to do: Grab an ice cold beer and have a good ol’ “Bratwurst“. This is a must-do for everyone visiting a football stadium in Germany. Brinkhoff’s is the beer they serve and will cost you about 3,70€, Bratwurst or Frikadelle (burger patty + roll) are 2,60€. All in all, fair prices. Other options are soft drinks, water, coffee or pretzels. You will have to get a (free) stadium card called ‘Stadiondeckel‘ to be able to purchase any food or drinks. See the staff in the stadium for receiving and charging the card.

Dortmund regularly rank among the cheapest teams in the Bundesliga to watch, and the concessions are just as affordable. Beer is €3.70, soft drinks €3.50 and bratwursts just €2.60. The beer is Brinkhoff’s, brewed in Dortmund. Drinks bought in the nearby Strobels Bar are allowed to be brought into the stadium, which is a nice touch.
Away fans are allowed to drink alcohol, though games against Schalke and Bayern are declared “risk games” by the police and thus alcohol will be banned throughout the stadium. That the home areas of the stadium are cash-free and require a “Stadiondeckel” card to purchase drinks and food. Get one for free from one of the retailers outside the ground, top it up to get going.
