Dortmund’s atmosphere is famous the world over – with the rest of the stadium taking its que from the Yellow Wall. The South Stand is one of the most famous sights in world football – with flags and banners flying as well as Borussia Dortmund songs being sung the whole game. This never-ending fan support is matched by the play on the pitch – with Dortmund asserting themselves as being one of the dominant forces in world football!

Watch out for the pre-game anthem of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ that is sung wholeheartedly around the stadium – they may have stolen in from Anfield but they don’t half do it justice!

Noise! This is one of the loudest stadiums in Europe and when the famed Yellow Wall gets going, it is truly a sight to behold. It is 25,000 fans crammed into the southern terrace and together they create one of the greatest atmospheres in sports. For European games, seats replace the terracing, but the atmosphere is cranked up even further through huge choreographies. Away fans are at the other end, well-placed to the left of the goal.

Away fans will generally be kept completely separated from home supporters, but it always pays not to show colours of any team that isn’t Dortmund. Their iconic black and yellow is everywhere. The chants are in German, so knowledge of that helps, but failing that, they sing You’ll Never Walk Alone in English too!

The ‘Signal Iduna Park’ is unique in whole Europe. Not only does it have the biggest stand on the continent, its fans make it special, too. During every game the south stands will transform into the so-called “Gelbe Wand” (“Yellow Wall”) when all fans wave their flags and cheer for their team. Dortmund fans are said to be among the best in Germany! The atmosphere is amazing! If you ever get the chance, try to visit a game between Dortmund and Schalke04, the greatest derby in Germany.
