The Irish crowds are sensational. As a rule, they are enthusiastic, fervently passionate and always up for a bit of banter with the visiting crowd! Football fans are probably a bit rowdier than the rugby lads (though times are changing), but in either case there’s rarely any trouble with fan violence. Once you’re inside, expect a cacophony of sound that doesn’t let up until well after the final whistle, made up of the songs, chants, cheers and tears of passionate sports fans.

The games played at the Aviva are mainly internationals for the Irish Football or Rugby teams. As such, as you can imagine, the atmosphere is always electric! Yes, Ireland have always been more of a rugby nation with 6 Nations and International games always setting the city alight with anticipation, but in recent years with the emergence of Ireland as a footballing force with victories over such teams as Germany – the passion and enthusiasm for football is igniting. There are few places where the national anthem is sung with more feeling and passion and when 50,000 people start to sing ‘Amhrán na bhFiann’!
