Fürth has always had the problem of being a rather small city plus always being in the shadow of its bigger neighbor, Nuremberg. Recently, the stadium that could fit a crowd of 18000 people has had a visitor average of roughly 10,000 spectators per game. Which is still a decent number for a city with only 118,000 inhabitants. Nevertheless, the passionate die-hard fans in the home stands called “Block 12” are always enthusiastic and cheerful. Loud singing and great songs guarantee a lively atmosphere. SpVgg Greuther Fürth’s fans are active and supportive, but usually very peaceful.

Kaiserslautern may play in the Bundesliga 2 but from the atmosphere at the games you would think they were competing in the Champions League. It might not be the biggest of towns but the fans take their football very seriously! There is often such a fervour at the game that plenty of fans come away loving the great experience!

All in all, a pleasant enough crowd. The team are as solidly 2. Bundesliga as they come and have as such not really developed any other meaningful rivalries above that with their big brothers in Franconia, Nürnberg. Games with them are fiery, and a note of caution is advised. That one day a year aside, you’ll have nothing to worry about, though it never pays to wear colours of other teams in the home ends.
