There isn’t a lot of options to head to the ground from the city of Gelsenkirchen, but the option that is there is a very easy one. From under the city’s main train station – you can catch the S-Bahn, line 302 and ride it all the way to the ground itself. From the Veltins Arena Stop, you only have to walk a few minutes.
If you’re coming by car, there are plenty of places to park – with 14,000 spots, you may be really really unlucky if you don’t find a spot!
A taxi from the centre of town should be no more than €15

Car: You will be either coming via highway A2 where you want to take the exits 6 (Gelsenkirchen-Buer) or 7 (Herten). The other option including highway A42 means you should get off at the exits 16 (Gelsenkirchen-Zentrum) or 17 (Gelsenkirchen-Schalke). When getting off at any highway simply follow the signs towards the stadium.
Metro: From Central Station take the line 302 towards GE-Buer and get off at “VELTINS-Arena” station. You will be directly finding yourself in front of the stadium. The ride is for free if you’re already holding a football ticket.

The 302 tram goes from the centre of town out to the stadium and is the simplest way to get there. It takes about 15 minutes and you can just get off when everyone else gets off, or when you see the huge stadium. The address, Ernst-Kuzorra-Weg, is named for Schalke’s greatest ever player, so you shouldn’t have any issues remembering where the stadium is.
