Great Answer Houston is a pretty safe city and they have made it more family friendly and cleaned up the downtown area in recent years. I have never felt unsafe around the ballpark and there are usually tons of fans walking around before and after games.

Safety is family friendly now around Minute Maid Park. Stay close to the person you came with, people mind there own business so everything should be fine.

The safety at Minute Maid park is fine and the surrounding Houston area has been cleaned up pretty nicely. There are also plenty of police officers watching the area so feel free to take in other events and restaurants.
