John Smith’s is one of those stadia where everyone, (the crowd, the stewards, the pint-pullers), everyone is just having a great time! Sure there’s the odd hooligan, but they’re a tiny minority and you probably won’t even notice them. There’s an electric atmosphere at every game, with Huddersfield playing bigger football than anyone expected! If you can grab a ticket, expect lots of singing, “aww-ing” and “ooh-ing” at all the right moments. It’s easily one of the best crowds in the Championship!

The excellently designed stadium was built with acoustics in mind – and the fact that none of the stands are fully enclosed actually helps with the noise – added to that, the fact that the away allocation is nearly 4,000 means that there is a tingling atmosphere at most Terriers home games! It’s a friendly crowd and as long as you behave yourself you should be fine wearing away colors – so get caught up in the moment and join in with the crowd. Lots of visitors have commented on how it looks like an Alton Towers ride from the outside – and from the shouts and screams during a match – they might not be too far wrong.
