More than a decade away from the Premier League, Portman Road aches with a longing to return to the top division in the men’s game. Ipswich Town are a dependable Championship side, though filling a 30,000-seater stadium isn’t easy without quality opposition. Two stands were redeveloped in the early 2000s (at their last appearance in the Premier League…) and helped give the stadium a much-needed makeover. However, in the last 14 years, it transpires that they only highlight the not-so-modern state of those other stands. Still a great, well-organised ground, home to a team full of ambition.

The Tractor Boys have been playing here since 1888. Don’t worry, the ground has been updated by now and the taller stands have great windshields to protect the crown from the sea breeze. There are also fantastic floodlights in place making sure the view at night is as good as a 3pm kick off. With one of the best atmospheres in the league – Portman Road is a friendly but passionate ground and will give you an experience you’ll never forget.
