There are some good sports bars in the area around of the stadium that fill up rather well on a game day and are well worth a visit. The Deutscher Hof has lots of TV’s that show all the build up to the day’s football and screens the match if you weren’t lucky enough to get a ticket, whilst on the other side of the street you have the same kind of deal with the Köthener Pub.
Goldhopfen is an increasingly popular bar – which deviates somewhat fittingly from the traditional beers and makes it trade by selling some cracking craft brews that really do go down a treat. Otherwise Killiwilly is a great Irish bar that will always welcome you with a smile!

About 2km away you will find plenty of bars to hang out after a game and enjoy a couple of drinks. To name a few, there are “Dark Flower”, “Spizz Leipzig” or “Vodkaria Leipzig”. Before a match I can recommend “Pils Pub Na Und” or “Bobbys Sportsbar” where fans usually go in anticipation of the match and have a few beers. Leipzig’s local fan bar number 1 is called “Heimatscholle” – here you will meet most football fans from the home team. However, this place is a bit further away, about 2.5 – 3 km.

Saxony is home to an astounding array of beers and Leipzig is the place to try them all. Karl-Liebknecht-Straße is home to beer gardens and traditional East German pubs, while the area around the university – Leipzig has one of the biggest student populations in Germany – so the bars there are a little more bohemian. South of the city centre you can find Connewitz, the main leftist area of the city with squat bars and rock bottom prices. Probably don’t wear any RB Leipzig gear though, as the combination of energy drinks marketing vehicles and anti-capitalists tends not to be a good one.
