Bayerischer Bahnhof is a restaurant that cooks up the best of Saxony and Central Europe and presents it on a plate for you! It has some great German food that you really have to try when you are in this area of the world. If you want to make dinner even better, try and request to sit in the railway dining cart that is in the restaurant!

Sometimes nothing else but a big Pizza will do and L’Osteria serves up some of the best Italian food in the city. The pizzas are enormous and the rest of the menu is really large as well! It is not Leipzigs best kept secret though, so you should reserve a table!

For something a little different, and a break from European food head to Pho Viet! The dishes here are authentically Vietnamese and really fresh! Try the papaya salad.

About 200m East of the stadium there are two great places to eat right next to each other. The first one is called “Diego”, a very nice and popular steakhouse. Usually busy after the games due to the amazing food. The other option is called “Trattoria No.1”. An Italian place that also serves good food and overall a decent locality. If you feel like a bit more fancy after a great football afternoon, I can highly recommend the French place “Cest la vie”. Probably the best place in town regarding food, but pretty pricey.

The city centre is right by the stadium and boasts more restaurants than we could hope to mention here. Instead we will point you in the direction of a few delicacies to try: lerchen are sweet dough pastries, not a million miles away from the English hot cross bun and well worth a taste, while Leipziger Allerlei is a plenty of veggies accompanied by a boiled crayfish.
