At the moment the interactive Liverpool FC museum is playing host to club legend Steven Gerrard’s personal collection of memorabilia, including memories from Liverpool’s famed Champions League triumph. Match day tickets for high profile games such as clashes against Manchester United and Everton are very hard to come by and it makes most sense to try and book as soon as you can as the resale value can be immense.

Even though before the game you are encouraged to buy all your merchandise beforehand, they actually stay open for an hour after the last whistle to allow you to shop in there with less of a queue.

Also, if you are travelling a long way or have a lot of luggage that you don’t want to take into the stadium with you, there is a baggage lock-up at Lime Street station that is under £5 that you can use.

The match is important, but it’s the build-up to the game which makes it such a memorable event. From there, talk to fans (home and away), buy drinks and get caught up in the thrill that precedes every game.
