Things to check out around Palacio de Deportes de la Comunidad de Madrid?

Sometimes the simplest things are the best. In this case, I recommend you make your journey back to town (or to the venue, beforehand) via el Parque de El Retiro. It’s a gorgeous, sprawling park with the well-known Palacio de Cristal in the middle; a gorgeous building right in the centre. There’s also the Centro Polideportivo Municipal Estanque Del Retiro and a few other stunning buildings hidden in the grass – great places for a coffee, a book read or just a leisurely stroll back to your hotel.

The venue is near to Retiro, one of the biggest and most important parks in Madrid. This place is perfect for a sunny day. You will see lots of people riding a bike, walking or even rowing a boat in the lake! Not far from the park, you will find Puerta de Alcalá, very famous monument in the city and one of its main symbols. You can walk about 20 minutes from here to get to the city centre.
