With 100,000 seats available, there are numerous! Level 1 in the Great Southern Stand will give you a great view of the ground for both AFL and cricket. If you’re in General Admin, for matches which draw large crowds, you may need to get in early if you want seats undercover.

The upper levels will give you a greater appreciation for the sheer size of the ground and an overall perspective of the playing surface. The bowl type construction of the ground means the noise will rise to the upper reaches of the grandstands too, so you won’t miss any of the atmosphere up there.

Typical prices for AFL tickets are around $30 which is the same for the cricket. For higher profile matches, those ticket prices will rise quite significantly.

This is always cause for a good amount of debate. The MCG is huge (capacity of 100,000) so there is no shortage of options. I’ll run through my thought process: Want to see the whole game unfold like a chess board: higher the better- Great Southern Stand in the Q’s (it’s high!). There are a lot of ‘Q’ options, but all of them will allow you to see the entire game unfold. Prefer to be close to the action, while sacrificing some of the play on the other side of the ground?: You want to sit in ‘M’, in either the Ponsford, Olympic or Great Southern Stands. If you are lucky/smug enough to get a Members guest pass: Level 3, P42-45. This will require you to know an MCC member. Not only is this the best place to watch the game, it is also next to the Frank Grey Smith Bar, which could possibly be the best bar in Australia.
