What to expect from the Court Philippe Chatrier (Roland-Garros) crowd?

The general atmosphere at Roland Garros is very welcoming and friendly. Around the complex you will see hundreds of people milling around, enjoying the day, eating lunch, having picnics or cheering the players on. Inside the courts themselves, there is a ‘proper’ way of conducting yourself however. Fans make a lot of noise with cheers and small chants, even Mexican waves, however when the umpire asks for quiet – fans must quieten down or risk being asked to leave the court. Shouts of encouragement are welcomed though by the players and the other fans, just do it at the right times!

People are calm and respectful, ready to enjoy some time outside of the crowded city and to spend quality time with their friends or family. They are passionate and supportive of their players while being friendly and welcoming to any guests of the match. No matter, if you come alone, with friends or with family, you will feel safe and welcome.
