Many people that aren’t familiar with the area are wary of D.C. because of some parts having an unfortunate past. There really is nothing to worry about and it is actually a great and safe city to experience and enjoy. As a general rule they say to stay close and in the Northwest D.C. and Northern Virginia area/side and stay away from Southeast D.C./Prince George’s County, Maryland side. Verizon Center’s location in Chinatown is about as safe and nice as you can get. Southeast D.C. has improved tremendously as well and has some nice areas now. Parts of Washington, D.C. are also deceptively nice and safe.

The safety of this neighborhood has gotten better over the years. By no means do you want to be walking around by yourself late at night but if you are in a group or walking around an hour or so after a game you should be fine.
