Things to check out around Sachsenring?

The race weekend is much more than just the race on Sunday – tickets to the stands get you access to all of the warm ups, practices and qualifying as well! Also, don’t forget to buy a paddock pass – on the Thursday before the race you can stroll through the paddock – getting as close to the garages as you can ever me! For just €16 – it’s definitely a great thing to do!

Being a race track outside of Chemnitz the “Sachsenring” is an attraction of its own due to its size. If you want to see other sights while being in this very area you will be required to drive. You can either go to Chemnitz (15km), a very interesting town with lots of museums and a beautiful city center. Your second option and a recommendation for all automobile fans is to visit the “Horch Museum” in Zwickau about 13km from the venue. People say it’s a must-see if you are interested in cars.

This is quite a sleepy corner of Saxony, but not without its charms. The Erzgebirge National Park is a short hop away and is one of the most beautiful spots in Germany, if you’re looking for something a little more natural after all the petrol and engines. Of course, if there are no races on, you can also pay to go on the track and drive it yourself – always worth the effort!
