There is Boston Harbor and other colonial/revolutionary historic sites.  There is also a cool aquarium that has fishes from all over the world.  They have good places to eat and drink on Hanover Street.  There is also Fenway Park and Plymouth Rock.

Hanover St for the food, the Boston Commons for the people, the Boston Harbor for yourself, the Freedom Trail for some history, the Aquarium for your kids. Ton of stuff nearby, make a nice day or evening of it.
