Red Sox fans hate the Yankees even if they aren’t playing them and have Jeter sucks and A-Rod swallows on shirts. They are some of the best and funniest in baseball with their knowledge of baseball history, their weird habits, their lack of hope until the 2010 and their bashing of opposing fans.

Red Sox fans are loyal, passionate and loud. There’s also the scrappy toughness that comes from years of missing out on the World Series title, which endures despite the recent wins. Crowds are generally gregarious, friendly and intense. You don’t want to get into an argument with a Sox fan because they know their stats and their history cold. Cynical Sox lovers say that you can spot fair-weather fans by their pink caps.

People love the Red Sox in Boston; expect the crowd to be very into the game. At the same time, we have some tough winters here, so a lot of people love to just enjoy a summer night out at the park. It’s always a different yet interesting crowd at Fenway.

In the middle of the 8th inning the crowd will join together to sing “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond, then, if the Sox win, “Dirty Water” by the Standells will play. If you’re there on a summer day, expect “the wave” to come around several times, and maybe a beach ball will be sent your way.
