Levi’s Stadium Tickets

Now that Levi’s Stadium is a reality, we can say that they’ve pretty much succeeded. There’s enough Wi-Fi and cellular coverage in the facility to keep close to 70,000 fans connected to high-speed Internet simultaneously during home games. Massive 13HD LED scoreboards built by Daktronics tower over either end zone, the larger of the two measuring a whopping 9,558 square feet. There are some 2,200 Sony HD television monitors scattered throughout the luxury suites, open areas, and club sections of Levi’s Stadium. Roughly 527 miles of cable run through the facility, according to the 49ers, who are offering tours of Levi’s Stadium to small groups on non-game days during the NFL season.

The 49ers and the City of Santa Clara, which owns Levi’s Stadium, really went for overkill when it came to connectivity at the team’s new digs. The 1,500 or so wireless access points located throughout the stadium are roughly double the number installed at the Superdome in New Orleans for Super Bowl XLVII. They’re quadruple the number at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., home to the New England Patriots and considered to be one of the most wired venues in American professional sports.

Indeed, at Levi’s Stadium there’s a cell signal boosting box for every 100 seats and hundreds of Wi-Fi transmitters installed throughout the building. You can access the free Xfinity Wi-Fi network provided by Levi’s from as far away as the parking lot outside the stadium. The 49ers are also incorporating mobile apps into the game day experience. While paper tickets are still printed up, the team hopes to eventually go almost totally paperless at the turnstiles, whisking folks into the stadium after they simply tap their mobile devices to verify a ticket. Another mobile app tells patrons what the lines are like at the dozens of concession stands dotting the stadium, or lets them order food and beverages to their seats. The 49ers also offer mobile device users free access to the NFL’s Red Zone Channel stream during games.

Levi’s Stadium is also self-sustaining, to a point. The facility uses recycled water to nourish its rooftop garden and other vegetation. Solar panels adorning the roof and covered pedestrian bridges leading from the parking lots provide enough power to sustain the facility during eight home dates for the NFL season—though the extra events and potential playoff games on the schedule do turn Levi’s into a net consumer of energy over the course of the year.
