Hoffenheim have become a mainstay in the Bundesliga in recent years which is just fantastic to see. This relatively small club have defied the doubters and despite sometimes flirting with relegation they seem to be here to stay. This gradual emergence is in part to the great support the team gets at its home games! There are fervent fans in this part of the world and the do a great job putting on a good atmosphere. The Rammstein Hard Rock songs that ring out just before kick-off certainly add to the occasion!

Although the entire area of Hoffenheim / Sinsheim only as a population of 35,000 people, the stadium usually fills up the 29,000 available seats. However, TSG Hoffenheim still has a rather young history in Germany’s professional football scene and, therefore, doesn’t have the biggest fan support out there. A lot of young people seem to sympathize with the club, thus, there’s a whole new fan base growing in this region. In my opinion, fan support is better than some people say, but of course cannot keep up to all the traditional clubs in Germany.

Hoffenheim are widely considered to be a manufactured club and the plaything of billionaire Dietmar Hopp, who bought his boyhood team and ploughed cash into them to begin the drive to the Bundesliga. They were absolutely nothing until the early 00s, when their rise through the league precipitated a rise in attendances from 3-4000 to the near 30,000 that are seen today. While this is a lot, the atmosphere is hardly fantastic – you can even wear away shirts everywhere except the standing terrace, which really says a lot about the lack of enthusiasm.
