The crowd are passionate and fiercely competitive. There is a bit of space between home and away fans, and things have been known to get a little out of hand, on occasion, throughout the years. You (and the rest of the away crowd) may even be held back after the game until the Stoke fans have all filtered out.

However, that passion also makes for a great atmosphere. There’s constant cheering, jeering, tears and laughter as fans ebb and flow with the game. You’ll have a good time, just be sensible and keep colours hidden until you’re inside.

there is an old adage in football – that the real test for any team or player – is if they can perform on a cold February night at Stoke FC. The tough tackling and competitive nature of the football is matched by the fiercely passionate and enthusiastic fan base, who can generate rather a hostile atmosphere. In the past this atmosphere has bubbled over – and now it is almost common practice for away fans to be held back after the game whilst the home fans filter out the ground.

However, most of the time it is a competitive atmosphere that both sets of fans, home and away, buy into and have a great time.
