It’s probably not something you’ve ever heard of, but the National Glass Centre is well worth a mention here. One of its main attractions is the lessons you can attend, like learning to blow glass or make beautifully flameworked decorations. You can also learn about the history and different uses for glass across the world. It’s a fascinating material, and the National Glass Centre is a fascinating afternoon!

Although tours do not take place on match days – Sunderland offer very affordable stadium tours, priced at £10 for adults and £5 for children. The tour takes you behind the scenes – looking at the hospitality areas, the press boxes, dressing room and the famous walk down the tunnel.

With a certificate being presented at the end, this is a great present for a friend or something you have to do if you are a Sunderland supporter.
