Toronto has been voted consistently as one of the most congested cities in North America.
The traffic surrounding the Air Canada Centre when a game is on is no exception; obviously it it is even worse.
Air Canada Centre is attached to UNION Station, so take the Subway or Go Train to avoid traffic.
If you HAVE to drive then expect the BRUTAL traffic that Toronto is famous for.
My advice for driving is to park 2 blocks east of the arena where there is less traffic. It is not only cheaper parking (it is literally half the price of closer car parks and you are only 100-200m further from the arena), there is less car traffic and it will take less time to leave the area to go home.
