A great place to visit is the wonderfully built St. John the Baptists Cathedral. It is a spectacular church that showcases the architecture of a past age. It is the main attraction in the city and the ceiling is filled with amazing paintings. In 2003 Pope John Paul II visited it and there is now a bronze statue located at the entrance as remembrance of this visit.

The Ton Tower is a perfect way in which you can get a bird’s eye view of the city after you climb to the top. It is a good form of exercise and you are rewarded at the end of it by getting a great view of all the amazing churches and historic buildings that are dotted around the city centre.

Trnava won’t be on the must-see lists of many European travelers but there is plenty here to make it worth a visit. The City Tower dates back from the late 14th Century and gives tourists the best views over the city. The city walls are even older and date from the 13th Century and really is a fantastic walk along, with spectacular views of the river. There is also a real burgeoning wine culture in Slovakia, and so you can while away the days sampling all the different vintages.
