A great place to visit is the wonderfully built St. John the Baptists Cathedral. It is a spectacular church that showcases the architecture of a past age. It is the main attraction in the city and the ceiling is filled with amazing paintings. In 2003 Pope John Paul II visited it and there is now a bronze statue located at the entrance as remembrance of this visit.

The Ton Tower is a perfect way in which you can get a bird’s eye view of the city after you climb to the top. It is a good form of exercise and you are rewarded at the end of it by getting a great view of all the amazing churches and historic buildings that are dotted around the city centre.

Trnava won’t be on the must-see lists of many European travelers but there is plenty here to make it worth a visit. The City Tower dates back from the late 14^th Century and gives tourists the best views over the city. The city walls are even older and date from the 13^th Century and really is a fantastic walk along, with spectacular views of the river. There is also a real burgeoning wine culture in Slovakia, and so you can while away the days sampling all the different vintages.
