If you’re looking for a cheeky pre-game pint (or a few post-game commiserations) then your best bet is to stay in town for them. There’s nothing around the stadium itself, and since it’s such a short walk to/from the venue, you won’t be in any rush. There’s Pub Lipp, which comes highly recommended and has a really striking decor; I liken it to being on a grand cruise ship a hundred years ago. Burdina Pub is another superb option, though it is slightly further away, the outdoor tables make for ultimate relaxation.

In Basque Country (and also in Vitoria) it is very popular to eat “pintxos”, so almost in every bar you can find some of them to keep your stomach happy! A good place which is really close to the stadium is Bar Batán (Portal de Lasarte Kalea, 17), where you can have a drink before the match. If there is a big game be ready because it will be probably full of Alavés supporters! Los Guaranis (C/ Portal de Castilla, 42) is another bar that I like. Nice place to try spanish homemade food.
