FedEx Field is the home of the>Washington Redskins football teamand is the largest stadium in the National Football League, with 91,704 seats. Located in Landover, Maryland, the stadium was built to replace Washington’s RFK Stadium in 1997 at a cost of $250 million. FedEx Field has five levels including standard seating and three tiers of luxury suites. Suites are equipped with restrooms, a refrigerator, televisions, a lounge area, two rows of seats and bar stools. Recent improvements included a new text message traffic alert system, new HD video boards, complete renovation and replacement of the stadium’s video control room, and the installation of the locker of the late Sean Taylor for viewing on the club level.

FedEx Field hosts a variety of special events during the off-season. During the summer of 2009, the stadium hosted a performance by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Paul McCartney, the U2 “360” concert and an international friendly (soccer match) between Real Madrid and DC United. The stadium has five levels – the Lower Level, the Club Level, the Lower and Upper Suite Levels, and the Upper Level. The Lower, Club, and Upper Levels are all named after important figures of the Redskins, NFL, and Washington, D.C. area. The Lower Level is officially named “George Preston Marshall Lower Level”, The Club is named “Joe Gibbs Club Level, and The Upper Level is called “Pete Rozelle Upper Level.” The Suite Levels have 243 suite, lounge, and Owner’s Club luxury boxes and 15,044 club seats.

After Daniel Snyder purchased the Redskins, five rows of “Dream Seats” were installed in front of what was the first row of the lower level, extending down almost to the level of the field. Whereas sitting in the first row of the lower level was sufficient to see over the players on the sidelines, fans in the “dream seats” need to stand or their view will be blocked by players on the sidelines. This has led to a “domino effect” where fans in each row behind must stand, meaning that those with tickets in the lower level end up standing throughout the entire game.
