Attendance has been dropping of late, and it’s not gone unnoticed by fans and media alike. Despite having a good season (currently 8th in the Premier League) attendances have been way below last season’s average, by as much as several thousand fans. Some fans pulled their season tickets as a result of Tuny Pulis’ “boring” football style, but I think we can expect a resurgence in attendance and atmosphere if the Baggies can maintain their current form!

Dull but effective football makes an impact on attendance – and with smaller crowd numbers, there is a lessened atmosphere in the Hawthorns. With the stadium being a roofed, smallish ground – is has the potential to echo noisy, atmospheric arenas such as Selhurst Park.

In the next year or so, West Brom may be implementing safe standing areas – even though plenty of Smethwick Stand fans stand anyway. Tony Pulis has backed this standing plan in an attempt to get the Hawthorns racking again.
