On game day, traffic is extremely heavy around Gillette Stadium. It’s critical to give yourself extra time to get to the game. If you live within 20 minutes of the Stadium, I highly suggest leaving 3-4 hours before the game starts, longer if you live farther away. If you’re lucky enough to avoid hitting heavy traffic, it gives you extra time to tailgate.
I also suggest tailgating after the game. If you leave immediately after the game, you’ll be sitting in traffic for well over an hour.

Notoriously, the only way to get into and out of Gillette Stadium Route 1, a two-lane parking lot of a highway. I’d highly recommend avoiding the post-game gridlock by any means necessary – commuter rail to Providence or Boston, or grab a bite to eat at Patriot Place and wait out the traffic.

There is a lot of traffic on game day because its just a two lane highway into and out of the stadium. A lot of people take the rail but that can be expensive with a lot of people. Just make sure to leave yourself plenty of time and if you are early just come an tailgate with other fans.
