Whilst in Hamburg you should take a trip down to the port. There are two ways to explore the water here – either board a tourist boat that will take you on a tour for €15-20 or you could be frugal and take the ferry bus number 62 for €1.90. It takes you to the fish market, past the modern seaside architecture, the Elb-beach, across the port and back.
To get a great perspective on the city you should ascent the stairs of St. Michael’s Church – don’t worry, there’s a lift to save your legs. The top gives you an amazing view of the city though!
Hamburg Is a wonderful city of waterways and you can take your time on them by hiring a kayak, canoe or a paddleboard. There are rental places all over the waterfront!

The stadium is very close to Hamburg’s famous “Reeperbahn”, the former red light district and nowadays night club and bar scene hotspot. Even a stroll down the street is more than worth it and takes you back to a time where there was a flourishing business (which is still today at some spots). Also, you are close to Hamburg harbor, I highly recommend seeing the fish market, a great experience. If you got some more time, you should definitely make your way towards “Hamburg Speicherstadt” and check out the old and historical buildings plus “Miniatur Wunderland”, a miniature town which is said to be Hamburg’s number one place to see.

St Pauli is Hamburg’s premier party district, and would come pretty high up a world ranking. There are countless bars on the Reeperbahn, as well as clubs – both straight and gay – plus every other fun thing that you can think of. St Pauli football club is really an extension of the area rather than a corporate body, so combine a trip to see a game with a big night out in the district or nearby Sternschanze, which has a similarly bohemian feel.
